Export of New Drugs
Drugs which are not marketed in India can be manufactured and exported,
against specific export order, with special approval from CDSCO as per
guidelines.
Export of drugs banned in India
As per Indian laws, certain drugs / combination drugs are not permitted to
manufacture/sale in India as per local requirements/conditions. However, if
such ban is not there in importing countries, manufacture and export is
allowed in India by obtaining No Objection Certificate from CDSCO.
Export of Narcotic Drugs or psychotropic substance
Export of narcotic drug or psychotropic substance are strictly regulated by
Narcotics Control Bureau in accordance with NDPS Rules 1985. Certain
permitted narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances can be exported by
obtaining No Objection Certificate from the Narcotics Control Bureau, for each
consignment.
Barcoding
With a view to track and trace the manufacturer of Drugs & Pharmaceuticals,
Government of India introduced Barcoding system. All exporters of
pharmaceutical formulations are required to use specified barcoding on
exported drug formulations/medicines on tertiary and secondary packaging.
