Sub: Meeting with Psylium Husk/Senna and Herbal Exporters on 4^thSeptember, 2013 - Chaired by Shri Sudhanshu Pandey, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India at 9:30 am at Hotel Comfort Inn President Ahmedabad.

We would like to inform all our member companies that Department of Commerce under the Chairmanship of Shri Sudhanshu Pandey has called for a meeting with all the exporters of Physlium Husk/Senna & Herbalextracts/products on 4^th September 2013 at Hotel Comfort Inn President, Navarangpura, Ahmedabad.

Member are kindly aware, with EU Directive requirement of Written Confirmation for for APIs coming into effect from 2^nd July 2013, all our exports to European Union pertaining to Physlium Husk & Senna has been affected for want of written confirmation certificate for Herbal APIs also.

Council has taken up this matter twice with the Commerce Ministry during 7^thJune and 26^th July meetings held at Hyderabad and New Delhi respectively. Commerce Ministry have agreed to move a paper with EU Government on assessing the situation of the farms cultivating these products and also the units manufacturing these products and the available infrastructure.

The Meeting is chaired by Shri Sudhanshu Pandey, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Officials from Ministry of Health; Dept. of AYUSH and DCGI office would participate in the meeting:

The agenda of the meeting is as follows:

1) Assess the infrastructure of the manufacturing units, their cultivation/procurement practices and its equivalence/conformance to the EU written confirmation.

2)    Moving a paper with European Union Government basing on the facts as assessed in point one.

As this is one of the major issues, affecting exports of Physlium Husk, Senna and Herbal extracts/products, we would request you to kindly make it convenient to attend the meeting on 4^th September 2013 at 10:00 am followed by Hi-tea  (Registration: 9:30 am -10:00 am)

A line in confirmation from your side shall enable us make necessary arrangements and inform the Commerce Department accordingly.
