Subject: Request for Inputs: Trade Performance & Market Access Issues with South Asian Countries (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Maldives, and Bhutan)

Dear Members,

The Department of Commerce (DoC), Government of India, following a recent meeting with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Indian Missions, has requested comprehensive inputs on pharmaceutical trade performance with South Asian countries: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Maldives, and Bhutan.

To ensure our industry's priorities, challenges, and opportunities are effectively presented during the upcoming review meeting with the Department of Commerce, we request you to share your feedback and inputs on the following key areas:

  1. Growth Strategies: Actionable strategies and trade facilitation measures to boost exports to specific South Asian markets.

  1. High-Potential Products: Key pharmaceutical products (APIs, Formulations, Vaccines, etc.) with strong export demand or potential in these countries.

  1. Market Access Issues: Key regulatory bottlenecks, delayed registrations, non-tariff barriers, banking/payment restrictions, high import tariffs, or trade barriers encountered and propose possible suggestions to overcome the issues.

  1. Any specific help/support required from the Pharmexcil, Department of Commerce and Indian Mission abroad.

Kindly submit your detailed inputs and comments by 8th November 2026 to research@pharmexcil.com and mark a copy to stats@pharmexcil.com.

Your timely feedback will be crucial in formulating our representation to the Government of India.

With Warm regards,

Raja Bhanu
