Subject: Seeking Inputs on Customs-Related Issues Faced by Pharmaceutical Exporters and Importers at JNCH, Nhava Sheva, Mumbai
Dear Sir/Ma’am,
Pharmexcil has been informed by several member exporters regarding operational challenges and procedural difficulties being faced during export and import clearances at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH), Nhava Sheva.
A meeting has been scheduled with Shri Giridhar G. Pai, Commissioner of Customs on 7 July 2026 at 3:00PM to discuss the issues affecting the pharmaceutical export sector. In order to effectively represent the concerns of the industry, Pharmexcil requests all members to provide specific instances of difficulties encountered during customs clearance.
Members are requested to furnish details of issues such as, but not limited to:

Delay in assessment or clearance of export/import consignments.

Excessive examination or repeated inspections.

Unwarranted queries or procedural delays.

Difficulties relating to documentation, classification, valuation, or shipping bills.

Delays in factory stuffing permissions or Let Export Order (LEO).

Issues relating to amendments, drawback, IGST refund, or export incentives.

Challenges in handling temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical consignments.

The information received will be consolidated and presented before the Commissioner of Customs for suitable resolution.
