Subject: CII Business Delegation(multi-sectoral) to Nigeria and Ghana coinciding with the visit of Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India during 29 April - 03 May, 2024 (MAI assistance not available)


We would like to member companies that CII is organizing Multi-sectoral Business Delegation to Nigeria and Ghana on occasion of the bilateral Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meetings in both the countries, under the co-chairmanship of Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The delegation is tentatively scheduled to visit Abuja & Lagos in Nigeria from 29 April – 1 May 2024, and Accra, Ghana from 2 – 3 May 2024.


The visit is aimed at providing an opportunity for the delegation members to explore new business opportunities; interact with local businesses and Government; and showcase the Indian industry’s business potential. A detailed programme will be shared closer to the date of departure.  

  

Several Indian companies are already doing successful business with Nigeria and Ghana. Indian companies have not only invested, set up offices and worked on projects in the two countries, but bilateral trade figures also show an upward trend in exports and imports between India and these countries, over the past few years.  

 

Nigeria: India and Nigeria have established a strong business relationship characterized by growing trade, investments, and collaboration across various sectors. India is the largest trading partner of Nigeria and Nigeria is India’s largest trading partner in Africa. It is informally estimated that there is around US$ 19.3 billion of investment by Indian companies in the country. Over 135 Indian companies are currently operating in Nigeria, with Indian owned/operated companies estimated to be the second largest employer.

 

Pharma Exports from India to Nigeria during April-Feb.2024 have touched USD 464.28 mn with a growth rate of 1.56% over the April-Feb.2023.

 

Ghana: India is among the top trading partners of Ghana and is the largest destination for Ghanaian exports. Ghana has a positive trade balance with India, mainly due to huge imports of gold by India which accounts for over 70% of total imports from Ghana. Bilateral trade recorded US$ 2.8 billion in 2022-23. Indian companies have invested in 870 projects in Ghana aggregating to US$ 2.22 billion over the years. In 2022, India was the 2nd largest investor by number of projects with 21 projects and the 5th by value with FDI of US$ 66.34 million.

 

Pharma Exports from India to Ghana during April-Feb.2024 have touched USD 184.90 mn with a growth rate of 32.54% over the April-Feb.2023.

 

Senior representatives from the Indian Industry are invited to participate in this important multi-sector business delegation.

·  Logistics: Upon receipt of your registration, we shall share more details regarding hotel booking contact, suggested flight schedule, etc.  

·  Travel requirements: Indian passport holders require a visa for Nigeria and Ghana. Delegates must possess a valid yellow fever certificate; Polio vaccination and Covid 19 vaccination certificate (with at least 2 doses of WHO approved vaccine) etc. Your travel agent would be able to advise you on additional travel requirements and documentation.
