NAFDAC directive on Implementation of moratorium on importation of pharmaceutical products

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

Subject: NAFDAC directive on Implementation of moratorium on importation of pharmaceutical products.

 

This is in continuation of the Circular dt: 4th May 2022 and VC meeting had with DG NAFDAC, Pharmexcil is in receipt of communication on the implementation of moratorium on importation of pharmaceutical products.

 

NAFDAC has notified the following decisions/directions to all manufacturers and exporters of India, for compliance:

 

1.   All consignments with unapproved pictorials and change in product formulations that arrive beyond 31.Oct.2022 will be seized and forfeited for destruction. There would be NO OPTION OF ADMINISTRATIVE FINES for violating the above directives. By Implication, all manufacturers/suppliers/exporters should factor the time between movement of consignments from India to Nigeria and therefore abide with ONLY NAFDAC APPROVED PACKAGE DESIGN AND FORMULATION.

 

2.   All NAFDAC Approved Clean Report of Inspection and Analysis (CRIA) agents in India have been directed to stop the processing of CRIA for any consignment that violates such provision upon inspection especially when they determine that such consignments would not arrive in Nigeria on or before 31.Oct.2022.

 

3.   It is informed by NAFDAC that manufacturers of such violative products that they risk blacklisting and product de-registration if the above directives are not followed as the NAFDAC would strictly enforce these provisions.

 

Member companies are therefore requested to adhere to the directions of the NAFDAC for hassle free exports from India to Nigeria.
