Subject: Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) for Indian Pharmaceuticals

We are glad to inform you that the Department of Commerce is actively taking up the Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs)  during bilateral and multilateral negotiations and working towards enhanced market access for Indian pharmaceuticals. 

You might be aware that Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) are the measures other than normal tariffs namely trade related procedures, regulations, standards, licensing systems and even trade defense measures such as anti-dumping duties etc which have the effect of restricting trade between nations. With the lowering of tariffs across the globe, NTMs have come into prominence with Members using these measures to erect entry barriers for goods and services. An outline of different types of NTMs and common NTMs faced by Indian companies are attached for reference.

You are kindly requested to send the NTMs being faced by the Indian pharmaceuticals while exporting to the following countries. Inputs from your organization will certainly contribute to suitable negotiations &  policy inputs towards our common endeavor to gain greater market access.
