Dear Sir/Madam,

Subject MAI Scheme for Product Registration Charges paid abroad–Eligibility criteria for submission of claims- Reference dates for calculating eligibility period

Members are kindly aware that under MAI scheme, a company can also avail the benefit of reimbursement of 50% expenses incurred towards product retention charges apart from product registration charges and all applications should be submitted on-line, complete in all aspects, within 90 (ninety) days from the date of issue of Product Registration Certificate for getting the claim benefit.

It is observed that few of the drug regulatory authorities (Viz Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Switzerland, Uganda and Zambia) do not issue product retention certificates in case of which the copy of the invoice issued by regulatory agencies reflecting the name of the products and the payment receipts itself are the proof of the products retained for the particular year.

Since no separate product retention certificate is issued by the Drug Regulatory Authority, companies are following different methods to calculate the 90 days eligibility criteria. Some companies are initiating MAI applications based on Invoice date, some are taking bank transfer date while some other are taking payment receipt date.

To make a uniform process for all applications, we are advising the member companies that DATE OF INVOICE will be considered as Reference date for calculating 90 days for all the claim applications for Retention of the product where the Regulatory Agency is not issuing Retention certificates.

We are also highlighting the reference dates to be considered i.e invoice dates (Click below links) for filling the application towards reimbursement of retention charges within 90 days for the benefit of members.

REFERENCE DATES FOR MAI CLAIMS FOR RETENTION

Kenya        Malawi      Tanzania    Switzerland    Uganda      Zambia

Please note that, going forward applications which are initiated within 90 days from the Date of Invoice will be considered for processing of claim applications. For any further clarifications, members may write to Dr.Gayatri, Assistant Director (email id: Research@pharmexcil.com
