SCHEME FOR DEVELOPMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY

 

 

 

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

 

We wish to inform that Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India has announced a Scheme for Development of Pharmaceutical Industry in India.  

 

Salient features of the scheme are given below:

 

There are five sub-schemes in this scheme:

 

i.     Assistance of Bulk Drug Industry for Common Facility Center:  Fund available under this sub-scheme is Rs.200 crores for 2018-20. Objective of the scheme is to increase the competitiveness of Bulk Drug industry in India. The scheme would be implemented through  a one-time grant to a State Implementing Agency (SIA) set up for this purpose for creating common facilities in any Bulk drugs Parks promoted by State Governments / State Corporations. Fund is provided to create facilities like Effluent Treatment Plants, Captive Power Plants, Steam and Cooling Systems, Incubation facilities, common logistic facilities, advance common testing centers, Regulatory awareness facilitation center, Emergency Response Center etc.

 

ii.   Assistance to Medical Device Industry for Common Facility Center:  Fund available for this sub-scheme is Rs.100 crores for 2018-20 and it will be implemented in the similar lines as sub-scheme (i) as given above.

 

iii.Assistance for Cluster Development:Funds earmarked for this scheme are Rs. 20 crores for 2018-18.  A cluster of pharma / medical devices / Ayush companies located in a radius of 10-15 KM are eligible to avail this scheme to create common facilities like – testing facilities, Training Center, R&D center, Effluent Treatment Plant, Common Logistics center etc.

 

iv.Pharmaceutical Promotion and Development Scheme:  Government / Academic bodies, National/State level industries Associations are eligible to avail assistance under this sub-scheme for organizing training programmes / organize conventions, exhibitions related to pharmaceutical / medical devices industry.

 

v.   Pharmaceutical Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme: Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs) are eligible to avail interest subvention on the loans availed through a Public Sector Financial Institution (to be identified by Government) for the purpose of technology / infrastructure development to upgrade to the standards of WHO GMP.

 

Detailed scheme guidelines for the above schemes are given in the attachment.

 

Members may bring this information to the notice of their local  clusters / Associations, so that they can utilize these schemes with the help of respective State Governments.
