Dear Members,

Urgent: Submission of Inputs on Pharma Market Access Barriers in Japan

The Council has highlighted several market access challenges faced by the Indian pharmaceutical industry in Japan and has raised these issues with the concerned authorities through the EP (Pharma) Division of the Department of Commerce. The Government of India has been taking up these matters with the Japanese authorities through various bilateral forums.

In this context, the Department of Commerce has sought inputs from the industry to prepare a detailed submission for discussion during the forthcoming Committee Meeting under the India–Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) at the Commerce Secretary/Vice Minister level, proposed to be held shortly.

Members are requested to share specific issues being faced in trade with Japan—including those related to Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), Rules of Origin (ROO), Tariff, or Non-Tariff barriers—along with suggested actions/solutions expected from the Japanese side.
