Subject: Proposal of Business Delegation to Cuba- Calling for Expression of Interest

We pleased to inform you that H.E. Alejandro Simancas Marin, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to India has expressed the strongest support for cooperation in the area of Research & Development, especially in Biotechnology and Vaccine space between Cuba & India. The Embassy of Cuba in India in association with the Chamber of Commerce in Cuba and BioCubaFarma has agreed upon and foresees potential in economic and research collaboration between pharmaceutical & Biotechnology companies between both the countries. It is to be noted that BioCubaFarma is a biotechnology institution run by the Cuban government and is responsible for nearly half of all research activities in Cuba.

In this regard a business delegation has been proposed which would provide an excellent opportunity to visit the Research Institutions and assess production facilities in the Scientific Pole also known as the West Havana Biocluster in Havana. The business visit will allow Indian delegates the chance to discuss potential collaborative ventures/undertakings with the Cuban pharmaceutical and biotechnology counterparts. The Chamber of Commerce in Cuba is also willing to facilitate a Cuba-India Business Forum keeping in focus the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology & Vaccine sector.

The proposed business delegation would comprise of key members of Pharmexcil and selected representatives of Industry Associations and interested companies and is planned during the first half of 2022. The delegation majorly focusses the participation of members from the Biotechnology and vaccine manufacturing sector and those dealing in Biopharma, vaccines, CROs and Research services with the strategic purpose of pursuing potential alliances in the field of pharmaceutical trade and research.
