Subject: Ministry of Health VC for pricing of Vital and Essential Drugs

We are pleased to inform you that the Indian embassy in Russia has actively taken up the Concerns of Indian pharmaceuticals exporting to Russia with the concerned Russian Authorities, especially the Price Fixation norms for the Essential Drugs List. It is understood that the maximum sale price in Russia has to be linked to the price of the drug in the country of origin, which curtails the profitability for Indian companies & operating as a barrier of trade.

In response to the Mission's request to provide clarity on the schemes for pricing of VED (Vital & Essential Drugs list) and associated rules and regulations, the Russian Ministry has conveyed to conduct a meeting on 23 December 2022 (Friday), 02.30 pm (IST) with the Indian exporters. This meeting may be useful for various pharma companies who have earlier raised issues regarding the revision of prices of Vital and Essential Drugs.
