ENHANCEMENT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
UNDER MAI SCHEME

Good News for Pharma Exporters!
Considering our representations and persuasion for increasing the financial assistance for exporters, Government has revised the ceiling limit under MAI scheme from the existing Rs.50 lakhs to Rs.2.00 crores per annum. Some additional components also have been included for reimbursement under this Scheme. Copy of the communication received from Ministry of Commerce & Industry is enclosed for reference of members.
Salient features of the revised MAI scheme are given below:
a) Maximum limit of financial assistance has been increased to Rs.2.00 crores per exporter per annum from the present ceiling of Rs.50.00 lakhs
b) Plant Inspection charges have been included as one of the components for reimbursement
c) Companies with less than Rs.30 crores turnover are eligible to claim one time grant of maximum Rs.25.00 lakhs towards reimbursement of expenditure incurred for creating facilities to meet the barcoding requirements for export consignments.
d) Fee paid for quality certifications required for Natural products like Halal, Kosher, NSF GMP, EU Organic, USA Organic etc.
Members may also note the following important points:
a) The revised scheme is effect from 7.1.2019. Thus the provisions of revised scheme will be applicable for the products registered on or after 7.1.2019. Similarly, in case of Plant inspection charges, the date of plant inspection report should be on or after the above date. In case of reimbursement of expenses for barcoding, the expenditure should be have been spent on or after 7.1.2019.
b) Guidelines for claiming Plant Inspection charges, Quality Certifications, expenditure on barcoding are under preparation by Council and the same will be uploaded in our website www.pharmexcil.com.
