To,
All the Members of Council,

Dear Sir/Madam

Subject: Block Your Diary:  BSM-CUM-Expo in Yangon, Myanmar, 28-30th March 2017

You may kindly recall the circular dated 19th December 2016with regards to opportunity for exporting to Myanmar.

We thank you for the overwhelming response and we take this opportunity to revert back with further developments.

Members were informed about the massive procurement plan of the Ministry of Health in Myanmar. India definitely would get a preference in their overall procurement plan.

Based on the communication from Indian Embassy in Myanmar, Department of Commerce, Govt of India organized series of meetings with WHO, CDSCO, TNMSC, MEA and Pharmexcil to develop a mechanism to enable the large scale procurement from India. Plan would be based on long-term perspective on the needs and requirement of Myanmar. The country’s disease profile vis-à-vis demand has been taken into account. In the overall import of pharmaceuticals India remains the leader with over 33% share. However, there remains huge opportunity for tapping. Myanmar government is also looking for comprehensive healthcare services. Therefore Department of Commerce is planning to integrate all the elements of healthcare needs like hospitals, hospital supplies, expertise of doctors, medical devices, traditional medicine system and pharmaceuticals in the model being planned.

As one of the key decisions taken during the meeting, it has been proposed to organize an Expo-Cum-BSM in Myanmar during 28-30th March 2017. The proposed programme is as follows:

·         28th March 2017-Networking Dinner at Novotel, Yangon, Myanmar

·         29-30th March 2017: Expo-cum-BSM,

·         29th March 2017: Inauguration of the Expo-cum BSM/ followed by B2B meetings at stalls of participating companies

·         30th March 2017: Expo-cum-BSM continued. Post lunch conference and closing programme.

(Detailed programme will be shared in the next circular)

Top officials of Ministry of Health of Myanmar, Regulatory Officials and business representatives will be invited. An aggressive promotional campaign will be launched to mobilize participation of the local industry.

Senior representative from Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Health, DCGI and WHO will be part of a very powerful delegation to lead the way to open more opportunities for Indian pharma sector.

We would be soon sharing the participation details and related modalities. This mail should enable you to block your diary and participate in large numbers. These facilitation services can be organized successfully only due to your participation.

Kindly acknowledge the receipt of this e-mail circular. A line of your confirmation on participation will be highly appreciated. Please write on rd.aks@pharmexcil.com
