Subject: IMPORTANT - Request for submission of API/Key Starting Material/Intermediates imported from China
Members are kindly aware, the outbreak of Coronavirus has created an impact on China and the industrial units producing API has stalled their production in many areas of China. As a result, the supplies to India are likely to be affected in the coming weeks, till the official announcement of China on the restoration of API supplies.
The Department of Commerce and Pharmaceuticals also have convened meetings with Stakeholders to understand the implication of the supply shortages on India pharma industry and availability of essential medicines in the long run.
Keeping in view the challenging situation, we request the member companies to provide the following details, which would enable the Government to address the situation in the best possible manner and also the industry, the preparedness to work towards the alternatives
