Dear Sir / Madam,

Members may please refer to our circulardated 18.5.2018, wherein Pharmexcil informed about the  notification dated 26.4.2018 issued by Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance,  Govt. of India bringing Tramadol under NDPS Act 1985.

As informed in the circular, Pharmexcil had represented to Ministry of Finance requesting for some time for manufacturers / exporters to clear the stocks already available with them. 

We are pleased to inform that considering the request of industry, Ministry of Finance has extended effective date of notification dated 26.4.2018 by 120 days; which means that the manufacturers / exporters of Tramadol would come under the purview of NDPS Act 1985 with effect from 25.8.2018.  Copy of the notification is enclosedfor reference.

Members may utilize the extended time granted by the Ministry to clear the batches of Tramadol already manufactured / stocks available on or before 25.8.2018.  It may be noted that manufacture / export / import of Tramadol after 25.8.2018 would be subject to the provisions of NDPS Act. Guidelines for registration with Narcotic Control Board have already been provided along with our previous circular.
