All the Members of Council,
Dear Sir/Madam,
Subject: Inviting Suggestions/inputs on Draft Notification by National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) to Increase number of Commodity in the list of normally traded commodities (NTCs).
We would like to inform member companies that Council has received a communication from Department of Commerce stating that National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has recently issued a draft notification proposing to include 236 NTCs to the existing 190 species and invited comments/feedback thereof.
We welcome the initiative taken by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India to include additional 236 species to the existing list of 190 species, considered as Normally Traded Commodities (NTCs).
National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) through an Expert Committee drafted the notification on normally traded commodities under Section 40 of the Biological Diversity Act 2002. A list of 426 species / biological resources/ items are covered under the notification, which will be exempted from regulating by the Biological Diversity Act 2002 for Commercial utilization.
A copy of the draft notification is placed here (please click) for your suggestions and valuable inputs. Members are requested to kindly through the list proposed by the NBA and give your views/comments on any species (wild/cultivated) which were not included in the draft, but largely traded and having potential for exports may please be informed, for inclusion in the proposed draft notification.
We request members to give their feedback to ayush@pharmexcil.com by/before 17th August 2015.
With regards,
Dr.P.V.Appaji
Director General
